An image input section (57) of a portable telephone images the face of a speaking person and stores the data on the captured image in an image memory (53). A communication image creating section (52) reads the image data stored in the image memory (53), converts the image data into data on an illustration image showing the speaking person in an illustration fashion, and stores the illustration image data in the image memory (53). A central control section(51) reads the illustration image data from the image memory (53) and transmits the illustration image data through a wireless section (54) and an antenna (59). A portable telephone of the called person receives the illustration image data and displays the illustration image showing the speaking person in an illustration fashion according to the image data.
