PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink-jet recording device which can provide a good recording quality irrespective of the type of recording medium and minimizes the difference in recording quality between recording modes. SOLUTION: In operation of the ink-jet recording device, one of the recording modes is selected based on a combination between the recording medium and a recording grade, and the weight of ink is changed depending on the recording mode, thereby forming an optimum dot diameter. Further the ink-jet recording device selects one of image processing methods optimal for the selected recording mode, and therefore the ink-jet recording device achieves the good recording quality in terms of the recording medium and the recording mode.
