The system has variable mass components (11, 12) moving in a circumferential direction of a drum, and fixed mass components (9, 10) provided at an end of the drum. One of the fixed components has a mass such that resultant residual imbalance of printing plate is below a maximum residual imbalance value. Magnitude of the imbalance is determined by the masses of the components and their positions such that a product of the resultant eccentricity of the drum is less than four millimeter per sec. The masses of the components are constant and the positions of the fixed components are not varied. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for balancing a rotatable drum suitable for holding flat objects including printing forms (2) a printing plate exposer, comprising drum balancing system.
