A LUMINESCENT SILICA NANOTUBE

Provided are a method for preparing luminescent silica nanotubes by using a sol-gel template method and a modified luminescent dye, which have a uniform shape, are luminescent both in a liquid phase and in a solid phase, and are useful in optical semiconductor devices. The method for preparing luminescent silica nanotubes comprises the steps of: forming a tube-shaped template from an azobenzene group-containing cholesterol derivative via a sol-gel template method; allowing a fluorescent dye modified with an organosilane to react on the other circumferential surface of the template to form a fluorescent tube-shaped template; and allowing silica to react with the fluorescent tube-shaped template and removing the inner template formed from the cholesterol derivative.
