NUCLEIC ACID REINFORCING SYNTHESIS OF 2-ACETYL-1-PYRROLINE IN VEGETABLE AND FUNGUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a marker for the production and selection of a rice species having high fragrance.

SOLUTION: This transgenic rice as a non-natural vegetable in which an aromatic compound 2-acetyl-1-pyrroline (2AP), a major strong aromatizing component of all fragrant rice, is synthesized at a higher level than that synthesized in a non-aromatic species existing in the nature, is provided by being inhibited with the expression of a gene associated with the decomposition of the 2AP. Further, the nucleic acid capable of being used as a molecular marker for selecting the vegetables and fungi synthesizing a higher level of the 2AP is provided.
