<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device which allows a gamma curve for a reflection mode to match with the gamma curve for a transmission mode, while maintaining substantially the same cell gap in both of the transmission area and the reflection area, and permits a wider viewing angle, while maintaining high light efficiency. <P>SOLUTION: A transparent electrode and a reflective electrode separated from the transparent electrode are formed on a first substrate of the liquid crystal display device. Furthermore, on the first substrate, an auxiliary capacitor is formed from a coupling electrode connected with the transparent electrode and an auxiliary electrode connected with the reflective electrode, and is connected with a reflection type liquid crystal capacitor, in series; whereas a protrusion is formed in the reflecting region on a second substrate, and initial inclination is given to liquid crystal molecules in a liquid crystal layer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
