PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light shielding sealing agent for a liquid crystal drop method, the sealing agent having sufficient light shielding property and being sufficiently curable by irradiation with light, and thereby, resulting in a liquid crystal display element having high contrast without light leakage and excellent image display quality, even when the element is manufactured by a dropping method, and to provide a vertical conducting material and a liquid crystal display element. SOLUTION: The light shielding sealing agent for a liquid crystal dropping method comprises a curable compound having a cyclic ether group, a photo-cation initiator, and a light-shielding colorant.
