PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an industrial roll making it possible that sensors which can detect operation parameters of the roll and conductive wires of the sensors are buried in a resin cover for covering a surface of the roll without being damaged, and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: This industrial roll 20 is equipped with a substantially cylindrical shell having an outer surface and an inner space, the resin cover 24 for covering the outer surface of the shell, and a detection system 26. The detection system is equipped with two or more of the sensors 30 which are buried in the resin cover and a processor 32 which is functionally related to the two or more sensors and processes the signals given by the two or more sensors. Further, the two or more sensors are structured so as to detect the operation parameters of the industrial roll and give the signals related to the operation parameters and at least a part of the two or more sensors is equipped with openings.
