When a distance to a predetermined object such as a preceding vehicle is calculated by processing a captured image, it is possible to reduce the calculation load and output distance information at a high speed. Moreover, it is possible to process the information contained in the captured image in various ways. For this, an image processing device includes: imaging means mounted on a moving object for imaging a predetermined field of view to generate an image; motion information detecting means for detecting motion information including the speed of the moving object; processing content setting means for setting the content of processing to be performed in the image generated by the imaging means corresponding to the motion information detected by the motion information detecting means; and processing calculation means for performing processing calculation corresponding to the content of the processing set by the processing content setting means.
