<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a graphite material capable of obtaining a high discharging capacity and a high initial charging and discharging efficiency as a negative electrode material for a lithium ion secondary cell and further capable of obtaining excellent rapid charging and discharging characteristic and cycle characteristic, further to provide a manufacturing method of the graphite material, the negative electrode material for the lithium ion secondary cell containing the graphite material, a negative electrode for the lithium ion secondary cell containing the negative electrode material and the lithium ion secondary cell using the negative electrode. <P>SOLUTION: In the manufacturing method of the graphite material, the graphite material having bump of ≥1 μm height on the surface, a graphite precursor and a metallic compound are mixed in a liquid phase, then the mixture is heated at ≥1,500°C to graphitize. The negative electrode material for the lithium ion secondary cell contains the graphite material. The negative electrode contains the negative electrode material.
