<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small direct methanol type fuel cell which can be suitably used for a power source of portable electronic equipment like a portable phone or a personal computer. <P>SOLUTION: The direct methanol type fuel cell A is formed by joining a plurality of unit cells 20 formed by arranging an electrolyte layer on outer surface of a fuel cell body and forming an air electrode layer on outer surface of the electrolyte layer.
