PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device capable of obtaining a wide viewing angule and improving a response time of liquid crystal, and to provide a manufacturing method of the liquid crystal display device. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device comprises: a first insulating substrate; a second insulating substrate; a liquid crystal layer disposed between the first insulating substrate and the second insulating substrate; first and second gate lines 121, 122 formed on the insulating substrate in one direction; a data line 160 which is formed in the direction crossed with the first and second gate lines via an insulating film and defines a pixel area together with the first and second gate lines; a pixel electrode which is formed on the pixel area and comprises a pixel electrode cutting pattern; a direction control electrode line 163 which is electrically separated from the pixel electrode, is at least partly overlapped with the pixel electrode cutting pattern and controls the liquid crystal layer; a first thin film transistor formed on an area where the first gate line and the data line are crossed, and connected to the pixel electrode; and a second thin film transistor formed on an area where the second gate line and the data line are crossed, and connected to the direction control electrode line.
