Disclosed is a resin composition for optical materials having an excellent balance among refractive index, Abbe number, heat resistance, specific gravity and strength of the resin. Also discloses are a resin and optical material obtained by curing such a resin composition. Specifically disclosed is a polymerizable composition containing: an alicyclic isocyanate compound represented by the following formula (1) and/or (2): (1) (wherein n represents an integer of 0-3) (2) ; (a) a polythiol compound having two or more thiol groups in one molecule and/or at least one polythiol compound having two or more thiol groups and one or more (poly)sulfide bond other than the thiol groups in one molecule; and (b) a polyhydroxy compound having two or more hydroxy groups in one molecule and/or at least one (poly)hydroxy(poly)mercapto compound having one or more hydroxy group and one ore more thiol group.
