A high voltage supply device is provided to protect peripheral components by detecting an abnormal load even when a high voltage supply terminal is connected to a ground potential. A high voltage supply device includes a high voltage processor(210), a transformer/rectifier(220), a load detector(240), and a high voltage controller(230). The high voltage processor amplifies an applied DC voltage and outputs the amplified result. The transformer/rectifier converts the DC voltage to a high voltage and rectifies the high voltage. The load detector compares the load voltage from the load with a reference voltage and outputs a comparison voltage. The high voltage controller applies a chip enable signal to the high voltage processor to stop the operation of the high voltage processor, when the comparison voltage is lower than a minimum value.
