[PROBLEMS] To provide a process for bisphenol A production in which a cation-exchange resin catalyst used in a reaction step is inhibited from deteriorating and bisphenol A can be stably produced for long. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] The process comprises reacting acetone and phenol as raw-material ingredients in the presence of a catalyst to produce bisphenol A, wherein any of the following procedures (1) to (3) is employed. (1) The raw-material ingredients and the acetone recovered from the reaction step are fed to the reaction step, in which case the concentration of lower alcohols contained in all the acetone materials to be fed is regulated to 100 ppm or lower. (2) The raw-material ingredients and a raw-material ingredient recovered from the reaction step are fed to the reaction step, in which case the concentration of lower alcohols contained in the reaction mixture which is being discharged from the reaction step is regulated to 30 ppm or lower. (3) The raw-material ingredients and recovered acetone are fed to the reaction step, in which case at least the recovered acetone of all the acetone materials to be fed to the reaction step is purified, before being fed to the reaction step, to remove the lower alcohols contained as impurities.
