A roll paper transportation device and a printing apparatus are provided not to need a single installation space of a paper detection unit and economize a space of the roll paper transportation device and the print apparatus having the roll paper transportation device. In a roll paper transportation device, a paper detection unit(8) detects the existence of roll paper(5). A shock absorber unit(7) absorbs the tension change of the roll paper. The paper detection unit is arranged in an accommodating unit(16) of the shock absorb unit. |
