Producing a flowable material comprises mixing dry mortar and water in a primary mixer and pumping the mixture to a secondary mixer in which the mixture is conveyed between a working surface and a counter surface while the working surface is moved transversely or rotated about the central axis of the mixer. An independent claim is also included for apparatus for producing a flowable material, comprising a primary mixer for mixing dry mortar and water and a pump (8) for transferring the mixture to a secondary mixer, where the secondary mixer comprises a rotor (2) with a working surface (3) and a mixing tube (4) with a counter surface (5) and the rotor is mounted eccentrically in the mixing tube and is rotated about the central axis of the mixer by a pump rotor (9).
