The proposed fiber-optic humidity detector contains a power-supply unit, a signal processor, an infrared radiation source, a photodetector, and a fiber lightguide. The lightguide is bent with a radius that is equal to the lightguide diameter. Within the bend area, a cut with a polish surface is made that provides the contact of the lightguide core with the environment. The present invention allows the sensitivity of the detector to be enhanced.
