A method for displaying push-type contents and a mobile communication terminal having the same are provided to optimize mobile advertisement effect by displaying the mobile contents suitable for a corresponding menu on a menu picture as well as a waiting picture of the mobile communication terminal. A push processing module(320) classifies push-type contents provided from a contents providing server by information channels. When a mobile communication terminal enters in a waiting mode, a waiting mode module(340) retrieves all menus in the mobile communication terminal, classifies the retrieved menus according to the information channels, and assigns a space for displaying the push-type contents on menu pictures which included in the classified respective menus. When a picture of the mobile communication terminal is moved to a menu picture, a menu picture display module(350) displays corresponding information channel push-type contents on the assigned space of the moved menu picture. A control module(370) judges whether the mobile communication terminal is in the waiting mode and is moved to the menu picture. If the mobile communication terminal is in the waiting mode and is moved to the menu picture, the control module(370) controls the waiting mode module(340) and the menu picture display module(350).
