Tracking object contours in a sequence of images

An object is tracked in a sequence of images comprising pixels with each of which is associated at least one value in a determined colour space e.g. RGB, HSV. The object is segmented in the spatial domain in a reference image of the sequence by estimation of its contour. The contour of the object is tracked in other images of the sequence on the basis of the values associated with the pixels of the segmented object in the colour space. An object domain representative of the segmented object in the reference image may be determined in colour space and a bounding box bounding the object may be determined in the reference image. The position of the bounding box may be tracked in the other images of the sequence and the object may be segmented in the other images on the basis of the position of the bounding box and on the object domain in colour space.
