<p>A novel embossable laminate (I) comprises a flat, absorbent surfaced substrate and a film, adhered together by an adhesive (II) containing (a) a polymer dispersion obtained by radical emulsion polymerization and (b) an organosilane containing (in addition to silane group(s)) prim., sec. or tert. amino group(s), epoxy group(s) or ethylenically unsaturated group(s), (b) being incorporated in (a) during and/or added after polymerization. Independent claims are included for: (1) the preparation of (I), by (a) coating at least one absorbent surface of the substrate with (II), (b) conventionally laminating the film onto the coated surface and optionally (c) embossing the laminate on the film side; and (2) the use of (II) for adhering plastics films to porous substrates and for glossy film lamination.</p> |
