The invention relates to a portable electric device, such as a mobile telephone, with interchangeable housing shells. The device comprises a first and second housing shell (GS1, GS2), in addition to a base body (GK) with a first connection section for connecting the first housing shell and a second connection section for connecting the second housing shell. The first housing shell is provided with a projection and the second housing shell and the base body are provided with respectively corresponding sections (RE1, RE2) in order to establish a non-positive fit connection between the two components. The second housing shell and the base body are configured in such a way as to form a recess in an assembled state on an adjacent section, whereby the projection (RN) of the first housing shell can be engaged therein, in order to exert a force on the second housing skin and the base body and to separate the two components from each other by means of a lifting movement, particularly by rotating the projection in the recess.
