A file editing method in a digital broadcasting receiver is provided to selectively reproduce only a corresponding interval edited by a user or selectively reproduce only a corresponding interval which is not edited by the user without copying and recording A/V data of a partial specific interval by generating navigation information corresponding to the partial specific interval of a data file selected and designated by the user, storing and managing the generated navigation information as a new data file, generating navigation information corresponding to the other intervals except for the partial specific interval, and storing and managing the generated navigation information as another new data file. A microcomputer detects and confirms a partial specific interval of a data file selected and designated by a user in a file editing mode(S10,S11). The microcomputer generates navigation information corresponding to the confirmed partial specific interval, and stores and manages the generated navigation information as a new data file(S12). The microcomputer generates navigation information corresponding to the other intervals except for the partial specific interval, and stores and manages the generated navigation information as another new data file(S13).
