A moulded platform 2, such as a pallet or dolly, comprising a support structure including ground engaging elements for supporting a load bearing deck 8 and moulded reinforcing elements for increasing the strength and rigidity of the deck 8, the moulded reinforcing elements including box girder elements 26 that extend through the platform in a direction substantially parallel to the load supporting surface 8. The box girder elements can be further reinforced with ribs (fig.13, 36) and diaphragms (fig.13, 34). Further disclosed is a method of making such a moulded platform 2, where the core element (fig.13, 50) for forming the moulded reinforcing element 26 is removed prior to opening the mould and releasing the moulded platform from the mould tool. |
