A disk brake apparatus for a railway vehicle is provided to improve the efficiency of braking while maintaining the size of the apparatus compact. A disk brake apparatus for a railway vehicle includes two caliper levers(6), an actuator(14), and a force converting mechanism. Brake pads pressing a disk are attached to the caliper levers, respectively. The actuator includes an operation rod driven to at least one of the proceeding and retreating directions. The operation of the operation rod is converted by the force converting mechanism in a direction in which the interval of the two caliper levers is expanded or contracted and the force is increased by the force converting mechanism. |
