<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that electric power where heating is required is high since an oxygen pump element is actuated at a high temperature, temperature distribution due to heating is large, and the generation of cracks in the oxygen pump element causes damage. <P>SOLUTION: Heat insulating materials 33 and 34 having a breathing function on both surfaces are arranged on both surfaces while surrounding an oxygen pump 21 for forming an electrode, a division means 28 for dividing space, and a heating means 29, thus preventing the oxygen pump element 21 and heating means 29 from directly coming into contact with the atmosphere. As a result, thermal efficiency to the oxygen pump element 21 is increased due to the heating means 29, electric power required for heating can be reduced, at the same time, uniform temperature distribution can be achieved in the entire oxygen pump element 21 for preventing damage such as cracks, and hence durability and reliability can be improved. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
