PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrogenation metal-removing catalyst for hydrocarbon oils and a hydrogenation metal-removing process for hydrocarbon oils preventing the catalyst from clogging and rapid rise of pressure difference by maintaining spaces among the catalysts, and being capable of long-period continuous operation in hydrogenation metal-removing process for heavy gravity oils. SOLUTION: The hydrogenation metal removal catalyst comprises a carrier and catalyst components 3 supported by the carrier wherein a part of the catalyst surface, preferably 30-90% catalyst surface, consisting of an inert material having no metal removal capability substantially, has a covering layer 2 rendering reaction fluid not to penetrate through substantially. It is preferable that specific surface area of the covering layer 2 is 10m<2> /g or less and the inert material forming the covering layer 2 is made of glass, inert ceramic, or metal inert under the reaction condition. It is suitable for a fixed-bed filling catalyst. |
