A laser output control apparatus and a method therefor are provided to minimize the deviation of printed image density by controlling the strength of a laser beam according to the selection of a user in a tone saving mode of a laser imaging device. An input power supply unit supplies inter-different input powers. A selection switching unit(190), switched according to a mode selection signal of a user, switches the inter-different input powers supplied from the input power supply unit respectively. A laser output control unit, having a laser output unit(170), a comparing unit(120), and an optical power control unit(130), generates a control voltage for controlling a laser output according to the certain power supplied according to the switching of the selection switching unit(190), and uniformly supplies a current for controlling the laser output according to the generated control voltage.
