<p>A portable computer and a control method for same are provided to realize a swap function of a bay device with only the software configuration in a power-on state of the portable computer supporting a single IDE(Integrated Drive Electronics) channel. An IDE controller(42) supports the single IDE channel. An HDD(Hard Disk Drive)(44) and the bay device(45) are connected to the single IDE channel. A microcomputer(46) sets the single IDE channel as a tri-state according to attachment of the bay device and resets connection of the single IDE channel. The single IDE channel is a primary channel. The HDD is set as a master of the single IDE channel and the bay device is set as a salve of the single IDE channel. The microcomputer stores an operation mode of the HDD before the connection of the single IDE channel is reset and recovers the operation mode of the HDD after the connection of the single IDE channel is reset.</p> |
