A display device is provided to prevent the leakage of light occurring in a peripheral area adjacent to a gate driver, thereby improving the display quality, by forming a light shielding pattern in the peripheral area adjacent to the gate driver to shield the light incident to the peripheral area. A display panel(100) is composed of a first substrate and a second substrate. The display panel has a display area and a peripheral area around the display area. A backlight assembly is formed under the display panel. A driver(300) is formed in the peripheral area on the first substrate, and supplies driving signal for displaying an image to the display panel. A light shielding pattern(700) is formed adjacently to the driver in the peripheral area on the first substrate, and shields the light incident to the peripheral area.
