A posture estimation/correlation system includes a posture estimation/correlation unit (20). In the posture estimation/correlation unit (20), a posture candidate decision unit (30) decides a posture candidate. According to the posture candidate decided, a comparison image generation unit (40) projects a 3-dimensional object model obtained from a 3-dimensional object model storage unit (45) into a 2-dimensional image and generates a plurality of comparison images near to the input image. A clarity extraction unit (60) extracts a first clarity characteristic amount reflecting the clarity from the comparison image generated. A weighted difference calculator (50) calculates a plurality of weighted differences by weighting a first clarity characteristic amount to the difference between the input image and the comparison image. A judgment unit (52) selects the comparison image having the least weighted difference as the comparison image nearest to the input image, thereby performing posture estimation and correlation. |
