A novel signal processing device for generating a signal of high quality by using a function matching the properties of the signal. The signal processing device comprises a sampling circuit (2) for sampling the input signal and outputting the sample value, function generators (3) for generating sampling functions of different parameters m, inner product operating units (4) provided for the respective parameters m and adapted to operate the inner product of the input signal and each sampling function and output the inner products, and a judging unit (8) judges a parameter m giving the minimum error among the errors each of which is the difference between the sample value and each of the inner products outputted from the inner product operating units (4) and outputs the parameter m. A discrete signal composed of the sequence of the sample values and the parameter m signal are outputted.
