A piston structure for a reciprocating compressor is provided to prevent wearing of a part opposite to an opening part of a valve by an end surface of the piston, thereby increasing reliability of the compressor. A piston structure for a reciprocating compressor includes a piston body(10), a suction valve(4), a piston head, and a contact prevention part(13). The piston body is slidably inserted into an inner periphery of a cylinder, and has a gas path formed therein. The suction valve is formed at a front surface of the piston body. The piston head has a gas through-hole(12) formed at the piston head to pass through the end surface of the gas path. The contact prevention part is formed by chamfering outer corners of the piston head.
