The method involves forming a stack of lumber pieces whose horizontal rows are formed of joined lumber pieces and provided with a capillary space between the pieces, where the horizontal rows are separated from the succeeding rows by a sticker (3). The stack is introduced in an enclosure equipped of a sprinkling unit e.g. sprinkler head, for delivering an aqueous composition e.g. water repellant agent, and a unit for recycling the composition. The stack is oscillated and sprinkled simultaneously. The processed stack is drained before evacuated from the enclosure.
