PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a CPU which raises processing speed, and also realizes low power consumption simultaneously in a CPU mounted with a cache memory. SOLUTION: In a CPU mounted with multiple sets of associative cache memory, the CPU is provided which has a means to monitor a cache memory area which does not contribute to improvement of processing performance of the CPU and can dynamically change it into an idle state according to the operating status.
