PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately determine whether or not knocking is generated. SOLUTION: An engine ECU executes a program including a step (S108) of correcting a waveform detected as a waveform of vibration caused by the knocking, a step (S110) of calculating a knock waveform model stored in a memory as the waveform of the vibration caused by the knocking, a step (S114) of calculating knock strength N on the basis of a result of comparing the corrected waveform with the calculated knock waveform model, a step (S118) of determining that the knocking is generated when the knock strength N is larger than a predetermined determining value (YES in S116), and a step (S122) of determining that the knocking is not generated when the knock strength N is not larger than the predetermined determining value (NO in S116).
