The invention relates to a gas bag for use in a vehicle occupant restraint system, having at least one wall or a wall part made of a fabric which is formed from fibres, and which is characterized in that the fibres comprise a polymer matrix with exfoliated layered silicate particles dispersed therein, the exfoliated layered silicate particles having a thickness of 0.5 to 2 nm and a surface diameter of up to 10 mum.
