A safety design revolving door has hinged exit panels (7) on the leading edges of the fixed outer wall (4) to enable trapped persons to exit the door if it stops in the closed position. The exit flaps can be spring mounted or can be operated by a release handle and/or by a servo, or by magnetic catches. The outer edges of the panels can be rounded. The flap hinges are vertical and lie in the outer fixed wall.
