The UV radiator includes electrodes (13a,13b) at the ends of an elongate tube for producing a plasma which emits UV radiation. The ends of the tube are crimped to form a gas-tight closure of the tube. The end portions (11a,11b) of the tube are bent from the longitudinal axis of the middle portion (11c) of the tube to form angled end portions, preferably bent by 90 degrees. Independent claims are also included for a UV irradiation device, and for an irradiation system.
