Provided is a secondary battery, which shows improved sealing characteristics at an electrolyte inlet to prevent electrolyte leakage and to improve the safety and reliability of the battery. The secondary battery comprises: an electrode assembly(10) including a separator(13) and a cathode(11) and an anode(12) disposed on both surfaces of the separator; a casing(14) for housing the electrode assembly; a cap assembly(30) coupled to the casing for sealing the casing, wherein the terminals(31,32) connected to the electrode assembly are coupled to the cap assembly; an electrolyte inlet(34) formed at one side of the casing or the cap assembly and having an uneven portion(35) formed via step machining; and a sealing member(40) disposed on the uneven portion of the inlet and attached thereto under pressure for sealing the inlet. |
