<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable an EA mechanism to exert its EA function effectively and sufficiently when a seat belt is drawn out with the inertia of the occupant, following the end of the belt take-up motion by a pretensioner. <P>SOLUTION: When the seat belt 3 is drawn out with the inertia of the occupant following the end of the belt take-up motion by the pretensioner, a relative rotational torque acts between a first spool member 4a to take up the seat belt 3 and a second spool member 4b whereto the driving force of the pretensioner 11 is transmitted. When this relative rotational torque gets the prescribed value or over, a pin 31 makes a bending or a tensile deformation, the first spool member 4a makes relative rotation in the belt drawout direction with respect to the second spool member 4b. This causes a spool 4 to rotate in the belt take-up direction to result in a twisting deformation of a torsion bar 7, and the impact energy is absorbed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p> |
