<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection type liquid crystal display device capable of achieving the observation of a picture from a wide range direction. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device includes: a liquid crystal display panel 1; a surface light source 2 arranged to be opposed to the incident surface of the liquid crystal display panel 1; a screen member 4 arranged in front of the emitting surface of the liquid crystal display panel 1, having a transmission type screen surface 5 surrounding the periphery of the front area of the liquid crystal display panel 1, and also having an incident part 6 on which emitted light from the liquid crystal display panel 1 is made incident formed on its surface opposed to the liquid crystal display panel 1; and a direction changing means 8 having optical characteristic that the incident light is emitted after the direction of the incident light is changed to a direction radially widened to a periphery direction, provided at the previously fixed position of the path of the light emitted from the surface light source 2 and radiating the light emitted from the surface light source 2 and transmitted through the liquid crystal display panel 1 to the screen surface 5 of the screen member 4. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
