PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an indexing method used in an application for a navigation system or other computing platform to specify a destination. SOLUTION: The present invention discloses an affinity relationship index and a method for using it. The affinity relationship index captures an affinity to one or more potentially more important place names, as to a given place name. Each of the such more important places holds an affinity domain within which other places are considered to be included. The index holds those on hierarchically, and has the action of generating a relatively significant and minimum structure capable of searching quickly a destination intended by a user. The application determines an instruction necessary to carry out a guided trip schedule, using the affinity domains, but not to determine all instructions required to complete the the trip schedule.
