PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable viewing device capable of eliminating inferiority of usability caused by automatic focusing on a data broadcast when a received broadcast includes the data broadcast. SOLUTION: After channel selection, a display section displays TV video (step S1) and when a cross key (arrow key) 12a is operated during focusing on TV (step S2), channel up/down processing is performed. It is decided whether the received broadcast includes a data broadcast (step S3) and the focusing on TV is maintained in the absence of a data broadcast. When a data broadcast is present, on the other hand, browser display is carried out by using a portion of a display (step S4) and a lapse of a specified time is expected (step S5).
