PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rain sensor capable of detecting precisely occurrence of a rainfall, in a state where positional restriction with an imaging object is relaxed, or without being restricted by the type of car or the vehicle structure, while an imaging device is used. SOLUTION: A virtual image Vimg of an image of vent holes 80 arrayed on a dashboard 12 inside vehicle interior, reflected on a front window 10 is imaged beforehand in the no-rainfall state through the imaging device 20, and image information of the virtual image Vimg is stored and held as a fundamental pattern in a storage part 30. Each time the image information of the virtual image Vimg is imaged through the imaging device 20, the image information is treated as an actual pattern, and a differential image, with the prior fundamental pattern stored and held in the storage part 30, is found.
