PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refrigerator of high efficiency and low electric expense capable of reducing power consumption by not performing wasteful ice separating motion and ice detecting motion when the water does not exist in a water supply tank and an ice tray, and to provide the refrigerator of high reliability free from defective motion caused by icing of a driving means and an ice detecting means during stop of ice making motion. SOLUTION: Anti-icing motion is performed to prevent icing of the ice detecting means and the driving means when it is determined that the water does not exist in the ice tray or the water supply tank by a water presence/absence determination means.
