PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gate system for a bicycle parking lot, which can correctly determine the type of two-wheeler (a bicycle or a motor-cycle) that is to pass through an entrance of the bicycle parking lot, allows the two wheeler to smoothly pass through the entrance, allows the gate of the bicycle parking lot to double as an incoming gate and an outgoing gate, and achieves reduction of an installation space thereof. SOLUTION: The gate system carries out gate opening/closing operation by using a discrimination device in the following manner. According to the arrangement of the discrimination device, a first sensor is arranged at some midpoint of a passage to the entrance of the bicycle parking lot, for detecting a tire portion of the bicycle passing therethrough irrespective of the type thereof and turning on its detection state, and a second sensor is arranged above the first sensor at a predetermined height, for detecting whether or not an object passes therethrough. When the first sensor is turned on and at the same time the second sensor detects that the object is absent, the discrimination device determines that the two wheeler is a bicycle. When the first sensor is turned on and at the same time the second sensor detects that the object is present, the discrimination device determines that the two wheeler is a motor-cycle.
