PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device of absorbing size variation for a container housing water electrolyzer in regard to the water electrolyzer which is made to be larger-volume by increasing the number of cell stacking. SOLUTION: The water electrolyzer 1 is disposed in a pressure vessel 2. The water electrolyzer 1 comprises an anode main electrode 9 and a cathode main electrode 13 which are disposed on both ends thereof, a plurality of unit cells 23 which are arranged in series between the main electrodes, edge plates 4, 6 which hold a combination of an anode main electrode-a plurality of unit cells-a cathode main electrode from both sides there between, a fixed bus bar 11 connected to one main electrode and a movable bus bar 16 connected to the other main electrode. The movable bus bar 16 consists of an upper side bus bar 17 fixed to a container, a lower side bus bar 18 connected to the other main electrode, a shunt lead 19 disposed so as to connect the upper and lower bus bars, a shunt lead protection tube 20 which is disposed so as to cover from the lower end part of the upper side bus bar to the upper end part of the lower side bus bar and accommodates the shunt lead, and O-rings 21 which are respectively interposed between the shunt lead protection tube and the upper and lower bus bars.
