<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a road recognition device for accurately recognizing the existence and location of a pedestrian crossing from a photographed image ahead of a vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: This road recognition device 1 is provided with an imaging means 2 for outputting a pair of images by imaging the periphery of a vehicle including a road, a conversion means 3 for converting the pair of images into a pair of digital images having the luminance pnij of predetermined luminance gradation in each setting area, an image processing means 6 for calculating a distance in a real space in each setting area of at least one digital image based on the pair of digital images and a detection means 9 for detecting a pedestrian crossing on one digital image based on the luminance pnij and distance in each setting area of one digital image. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
