<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain toner consumption in a miniaturized image forming apparatus without making cost rise. <P>SOLUTION: An in-cassette sheet size detection device 16 and a sheet arrangement detection device 33 detect sheet size in a direction orthogonal to a sheet conveying direction, and the sheet arrangement detection device 33 also detects the positional deviation of a sheet.
